With the aim of socializing and disseminating scientific knowledge about the Araucária production chains, conservation, sustainability, biodiversity of the wild fauna of Araucária Forests, addressing management strategies for their conservation, research and innovation, public policies in the search for a better future scenario for Araucaria Forests, the IV Seminar on Araucaria Sustainability will be held: Araucaria Forests and the conservation of wild fauna (binational edition).
The event will be held from May 7th to 10th, 2024 in the municipality of Lages and is aimed at students, teachers and researchers from undergraduate and postgraduate courses at higher education institutions located in environments with Mixed Rainforest. It will consist of lectures, round tables and presentation of technical works within the theme of conservation of the Araucária Forest (innovation for the production system and the pine nut as a promoter of income, well-being and sustainability) and the Wild Fauna that maintains interactions with this ecosystem.
Organized by higher education institutions operating in the south/southeast of Santa Catarina and north/northeast of Rio Grande do Sul, such as UNIPLAC, UPF, UDESC-Campus Lages, Instituto Federal-Campus Urupema, UFSC, Embrapa Florestas, Federal University of Paraná, Charão Project (AMA/UPF), INTA/Argentina. It has the support of state environmental agencies such as IMA/SC and SEMA/RS, and the federal agency ICMBio/Cemave, in addition to the municipal public authorities of the municipality of Urupema/SC.
The eco-environmental scope of the seminar, due to its nature of contemplating the wild fauna of an ecosystem that occurs from Rio Grande do Sul to Minas Gerais and countries such as Paraguay and Argentina, will be of great territorial scope. In Santa Catarina, these actions may cover around 30% of the state territory, in plateau areas with remnants of the Mixed Ombrophylous Forest.
