Paths of Mercosur

The “Caminos del MERCOSUR” Project was born as a proposal of the Educational Sector of MERCOSUR with the objective of strengthening the Mercosur identity of young people of 16 and 17 years of age in the region, through a training experience in which the participants, in addition to expanding their knowledge, develop an experience that allows them to appreciate the value of regional integration, respecting cultural diversity.

The proposal consists of the development of an annual historical-literary contest in which middle-level students (from 16 to 17 years old) from all MERCOSUR countries participate and whose motto changes according to the choice made by each country. host. Six winners are selected in each country, who end up forming a delegation of thirty-six students, whose prize consists of a 10-day study trip along one of the emblematic routes of the region.

General objectiveSpecific Objectives

Each of the MERCOSUR Ministries of Education, together with the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI), who collaborates in the dissemination and organization of this initiative, launch the edition of each year’s contest on March 26, the date declared in the school calendar as “MERCOSUR Day” in commemoration of the signing of the Treaty of Asunción, origin of MERCOSUR.

General objective

Stimulate and strengthen the Mercosur identity of young students in the region through a training experience in which participants, in addition to expanding their knowledge, will be able to experience and appreciate the value of regional integration, respecting cultural diversity.

Specific Objectives

– Generate a space for regional student participation and integration in the fields of culture and knowledge, oriented to the development of cultural, pedagogical and recreational activities.

– Stimulate intellectual production and historical review of the region and the integration process from the adolescent perspective through written productions.

– Strengthen ties of reciprocity and solidarity among students in the region, respecting cultural diversity.
