Paraná-Paraguay Waterway | They build the largest container ship that will navigate it.

The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) announced that through the construction of the largest container ship that the Paraguay-Paraná waterway will have and about 20 dry cargo barges and tankers, international trade will be enhanced, positioning our country at the top of the entire region.

From the MOPC Merchant Marine management, they visited the shipyards responsible for these large-scale undertakings for the country and assured that the naval industry is proud of what these works will do to connect our trade to the world. “Products manufactured on other continents will arrive in Paraguay in 1,000 containers,” said Patricio Ortega, director of the Merchant Marine.

The construction process will take approximately one year to launch. With the ship “Don Toyo”, which has dimensions of 120 meters in length and 30 meters in width and 3,000 HP, the Paraguayan naval industry marks an important milestone, since these characteristics and investment demonstrate its commitment to the development of the entire shipping sector. Paraguayan.

One of the ships that is being built is called “Don Toyo”, it is the largest and most capable that the waterway will have. The project provides for the highest navigation technology and machine systems in the naval sector. On the other hand, at the Chaco Paraguayo Shipyard in Villa Hayes, 20 barges, dry cargo and tankers are being built, which will contribute to positioning river transport as an effective alternative for the industry.
