The Uruguay River is an international watercourse and its hydrographic basin is part of the territories of Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay, covering a total area of \u200b\u200bapproximately 339,000 km2. It has its origins in the Sierra do Mar (Brazil), with a length of 1,800 km until its mouth in the R\u00edo de la Plata. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Its course runs approximately 32% through Brazilian territory, 38% forms a border between Argentina and Brazil and 30% forms a border between Argentina and Uruguay, the latter section under the administration of the Administrative Commission of the Uruguay River.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Uruguay River constitutes an important water resource whose development potential is still in an incipient stage. Maintaining it in such conditions that it can serve current and future generations is a duty that the Parties that share this stretch of the River have assumed, and that they delegated to the Commission, providing them with the necessary legal tools.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
