Deputy Valdemar Júnior takes office as president of UPM

State deputy Valdemar Júnior (Republicans), was promoted to the position of president of the Union of South American and Mercosur Parliamentarians – UPM, during the entity's Ordinary General Assembly, which took place on the morning of this Friday, the 23rd, at the headquarters of the Legislative Branch of Argentina, in Buenos Aires.

State deputy Valdemar Júnior (Republicans), was promoted to the position of president of the Union of South American and Mercosur Parliamentarians – UPM, during the entity’s Ordinary General Assembly, which took place on the morning of this Friday, the 23rd, at the headquarters of the Legislative Branch of Argentina, in Buenos Aires.

Valdemar Júnior was unanimously elected by the entity’s members, along with the new executive board, at the Ordinary General Assembly, held on May 17th, at the Legislative Assembly of Tocantins, in Palmas.

In his speech, the new president of UPM made a commitment to continue doing the work done by his predecessor, the Senator from Argentina, Alejandro Cellillo, which is to continue strengthening and strengthening ties with Mercosur and Latin American countries.

“I am very happy to have assumed the presidency of the Union of Mercosur Parliamentarians and to be succeeding the work of Alejandro Cellillo, the senator who, during the last few months, has done intense and fruitful work on the integration of Mercosur countries and Latin America. In addition to integration, he did expansion work so that we could open our eyes to other countries in South America. So it will be a great responsibility to succeed him in command of UPM” who sees the mission of being vice-president of UPM for Brazil . An opportunity to represent Maranhão in this international discussion and have an even greater proximity to other countries. Debates on projects and actions that can benefit our people and bring improvements to our Maranhão”, said deputy Wellington.

“We will continue working so that, in addition to strengthening ties between Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and Chile, we can attract the eyes of other South American countries to join the UPM, so that it can continue to grow and promoting greater integration between the member countries of this important institution”, he highlighted.
