Reading:The Tumaco – Asís – Belém do Pará Intermodal Corridor will advance alongside UPM as a hub for commercial logistics integration in South America.
The Tumaco-Puerto Asís-Belém do Pará Intermodal Corridor is a logistics integration initiative led by Colombia and Brazil. It connects the Colombian Pacific coast (Tumaco) with the Brazilian Atlantic coast (Belém), crossing the Amazon rainforest, with the aim of fostering development, intermodal connectivity, and trade with Asia.
At the Buenos Aires City Legislature, Raúl Cheyllada, Executive Director and President of the UPM International Relations Forum, referred to the Tumaco-Manaus-Belém do Pará intermodal corridor as an important project that is part of a package of initiatives for the Integration of Regional Infrastructure in South America (IIRSA), in a Colombian-Brazilian collaboration. This corridor begins in the Andean region, extending to Pasto, then descends the mountain range to Mocoa-Puerto Asís-Puerto Leguizamo on the Putumayo River, continuing along the Amazon River to Belém do Pará.
In this regard, there are countless studies that allow us to appreciate not only the viability of the project but also its importance and impact on the economies of the two nations, which by mutually benefiting would also generate processes of cultural transformation and rapprochement between the peoples.
