It complements a series of current understandings, such as the MERCOSUR-Chile Economic Complementation Agreement 35 (ACE 35) of 1996 and the Agreement to Avoid Double Taxation of 2015 (in force since October 2016). It also constitutes an important step in the objective of strengthening ties with the countries of the Pacific Alliance.
The agreement deepens and improves the existing regulatory framework regarding Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures, Technical Obstacles to Trade, Trade in Services and Investments. Likewise, it includes new disciplines in Electronic Commerce, Telecommunications, Public Procurement, Trade Facilitation and other matters related to trade such as: MSMEs, Competition Policy, Transparency, Labor, Environmental, Gender and Trade Cooperation.
